Sunny McKechnie

Sunny is an experienced leader with a proven track record of developing and executing integrated communications programs, often during times of change and in complex political and stakeholder environments. For more than 19 years, he has partnered with both established and emerging organizations across multiple sectors, including government, non-profit, transportation, health, finance, entertainment, food and beverage, consumer, manufacturing, gaming, construction, entertainment, and tech.
Skilled at managing dynamic teams and providing strategic counsel to senior leadership, Sunny’s collaborative approach has helped him thrive in numerous senior roles at two of the largest and most respected global communications firms in Canada.
Sunny believes in a holistic approach to communications, with storytelling at the core. He enjoys finding the right mix of strategic best practices and new ideas to clearly, concisely and consistently reach the right audiences to advance business objectives.
Prior to his agency roles, Sunny helped launch and sustain an in-house communications program and led international media relations for one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies.
An active member in his community, Sunny coaches competitive youth soccer and sits on the board of his local soccer club on Vancouver Island. Previously, Sunny sat on the Board of Tradeworks Training Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering unemployed residents of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver with job-related education, life skills counselling, and job search support.
