Kick off Pride Summer with NATIONAL: Promoting safety + inclusivity across Canada

Pride Summer at NATIONAL kicks off with Toronto’s vibrant Pride Parade on June 27. From this exciting start until September, our teams across Canada will have numerous opportunities to celebrate Pride and thoughtfully reflect on the ongoing work needed to advance equality and inclusion.

Safety + Inclusivity

At a time when the freedom, safety and rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community are being dismantled, we are faced with an obligation to create safe spaces. These spaces are necessary to foster a community of inclusivity where people are encouraged and embraced for showing up as their authentic selves.

For us, Pride has many meanings—celebration, inclusion, allyship, activism, education, and so much more. It’s more than one flag, one collection of colours, or the letters 2SLGBTQIA+. It’s about freedom, equity, and respecting an individual’s right to live openly and safely. We are so much more than our gender, our sexuality, who we love, or how we love. More than an individual, more than a community, more than a place of work, Pride is about all of us. How we live in our truth, how we support each other, how we are allies, and how we are ourselves.

The '+' in 2SLGBTQIA+ representing all identities and celebrating our diversity, truly inspired our creative team to craft NATIONAL’s unique Pride message. The + emblem we’ve created is inspired by the Progress Pride flag and promotes safety and belonging. Pins have also been made available to our teams and encouraged to wear them year-round as a signal of safety and allyship, while raising awareness and donations for local 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations.
