Until 1922, diabetes was a feared disease that meant certain death. That changed with the invention of insulin by a young Dr. Frederick Banting, right here in Canada. Our very own John Hopps invented the pacemaker that now saves the lives of so many cardiac patients around the world. This invention led the way for Toronto General Hospital to become a pioneer in cardiac research and organ transplant. These game-changing Canadian accolades in health are well known – but how many of us have heard of Canada’s leading role in bettering the health of people on a global scale? Canada is the sixth largest donor in global health, and second largest in nutrition. The Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH) is a membership of 90 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions and health professional associations. Together they are working around the clock to provide access to quality care and improving health outcomes of women and children in more than 1,000 communities around the world.
Until now, this leadership hasn’t been talked about – it’s time to change that with Lead On Canada!
Over the last year, NATIONAL has worked closely alongside CanWaCH to develop a campaign that showcases the great strides made by its members in championing the health rights of women and children around the world, and here at home.
NATIONAL is proud to partner with CanWaCH in spreading the word to Canadians from coast to coast, primarily through the campaign’s Facebook hub.
The time is now to let your friends and family know you’re proud of Canada’s leadership in supporting the health rights of women and children by sharing the Lead on Canada campaign.
To show your support, follow Lead On Canada on Facebook and share this video highlighting the amazing partnership in action.
