After 15 years at the helm of NATIONAL’s Montreal office, Serge Paquette announced that he will step down from his role as managing partner on June 22. He will return in September as senior counsel and partner. Martin Daraiche will take over as managing partner of the Montreal office, in addition to his role as president of the Firm in Canada, which he has been holding since 2019.
Jean-Pierre Vasseur, President and CEO of AVENIR GLOBAL, thanked Serge Paquette for his work and his team’s accomplishments: “Serge has demonstrated time and again his ability to mobilize an outstanding team to serve our clients. He has enabled the Montreal office to grow and remain the trusted partner of economic and social leaders in Quebec and Canada.”
Serge Paquette had already made his intentions known to the Firm’s management, but the pandemic changed those plans. “I had to stay. We have shared some challenging times over the past three years, professionally and personally. I have been blessed to be surrounded by such talented and professional colleagues. The time has now come for me to make way for the next generation,” he said.
“The Montreal office is at the heart of what NATIONAL is all about. It is the cradle and flagship of the Firm founded by Luc Beauregard 46 years ago. It is the essence for who we are in terms of values, professionalism, and culture. Martin Daraiche embodies this long-term vision of a firm that knows how to build on its traditional strengths and develop new ones to remain the benchmark for organizations facing complex challenges,” adds Jean-Pierre Vasseur.
Martin Daraiche concludes: “NATIONAL is first and foremost a team of brilliant and motivated professionals with diverse backgrounds and expertise who love what they do and help our clients achieve their goals. The Montreal office is recognized for the quality of its work and its dynamism, and I look forward to participating fully in its development. Together, and in collaboration with our colleagues across Canada, we will continue to do great things.”
