Stephen brings over two decades experience to NATIONAL where he specializes in working with both provincial and municipal governments. Stephen has delivered public affairs, government and stakeholder relations and strategic communications advice to senior executives and clients from industries including financial services, commercial and residential development, agri-food and manufacturing, post-secondary education, construction/trades, electricity distribution, health care and medical technology. This work has included providing strategic advice and support to clients on how to engage government representatives on policy decisions at the Ontario Legislature and with municipalities across Ontario.
Before joining NATIONAL, Stephen worked in both the agency and not-for-profit sectors including as the Manager, Municipal Practice at StrategyCorp and as the Associate Director, Ontario Government Relations at the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA). In addition, he worked in similar capacities at UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Canadian Jewish Congress. He led the public affairs team that received federal and provincial infrastructure assistance for a $400 million, 3 campus not-for-profit community center project in Toronto and York Region.
Stephen graduated with a Master of Arts in Political Science from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as well as undergraduate degrees from both Carleton and Brock Universities. In 2003 Stephen was a recipient of the City of Vaughan Volunteer of Distinction Award. Stephen was honoured with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in November 2012 and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto recognized Stephen’s volunteerism with the Chai Tikvah Foundation by awarding him a Shem Tov award in 2016. Stephen is currently a member of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto Genesis Committee and a Director of the Board of Directors for Jewish Family and Child.
