Gary has coached many executives on media and presentation skills, helping them communicate powerful messages to well-targeted audiences. He has also developped a training program in change management communications.
He has acquired broad and varied experience training people in many fields: the financial sector, universities, pharmaceuticals, tourism, professional associations, government and non-governmental groups, consultants as well as in the sports and entertainment industries. He has also provided strategic media counsel in numerous crisis and issues management situations.
Previously, Gary worked as a broadcast journalist for 20 years. He worked in both official languages: the last 10 years in Montreal, first for the Global Television Network (three years as an anchor and reporter) and then for the French language TQS television network as a reporter, anchor, line-up editor and assignment editor. Gary has also given numerous presentations and has extensive “emcee” experience hosting dozens of news conferences and has extensive experience as announcer for numerous sporting events.
He holds a BA in economics from McGill University, a BA in journalism from the Université du Québec à Montréal and has completed course work leading to an MA in communications, also at UQAM. He taught TV journalism at École des Médias (UQAM) for six years. He is fluent in French and English.
